On Oct. 29, 2026, California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the university’s continued commitment and investment in its students, faculty, and surrounding community. Chargie was proud to attend the event as a dedicated partner of the university. The celebration marked the opening of five major new facilities and additions across campus.

‍

The $231.5 million campus expansion project included the university’s first residential Dining Commons, a Health and Wellness Recreation Center, an Orthotics and Prosthetics Science and Technology Hub, a freshman-only Residence Hall designated for low-income students, and electric vehicle (EV) chargers. ‍

In September 2026, Chargie activated 200 Level 2 chargers at the CSUDH campus in Lot 3, significantly expanding charging access for the campus community. The project leveraged Southern California’s Edison Charge Ready rebate program, helping CSUDH offset much of the project’s costs. A portion of the charging infrastructure also supports the campus’ CREST program, a campus transportation program that gives the CSUDH community affordable access to rental EVs.

‍

We are increasingly seeing educational institutions across the country invest in EV charging as an amenity for faculty, staff, students, and the surrounding community to help future-proof their facilities, increase student and faculty satisfaction, support campus sustainability, and more. One of the biggest deterrents to charger installations at campuses is cost. However, educational facilities often have access to funding opportunities, rebates, incentives, or other programs that can help offset project costs, making installations much more affordable and feasible.

‍

For instance, through the Foundation for California Community Colleges’ (FoundationCCC) CollegeBuys purchasing program, eligible California educational institutions can now purchase EV charging solutions from verified vendors, including Chargie, with preferred pricing and a streamlined procurement process that skips the RFP process altogether.

Chargie is a proud partner of multiple campuses across California, and we believe schools serve as hubs of innovation and environmental stewardship. If you’d like to get chargers installed at your campus, office, home, or anywhere in between, reach out to our team to get the process started.
