Background on The Program
California’s National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program recently announced it will be offering $79 million in funding for DC fast chargers (Level 3) along major corridors in Southern California. Funding is split into two regions: Region 4, encompassing Los Angeles and Orange Counties, with allocated funds of $48,720,000, and Region 5, which includes Imperial, Riverside, San Bernardino, and San Diego Counties with allocated funds of $30,280,000.
This solicitation is designed to expand access to high-powered DC fast chargers across Southern California, targeting impactful locations for personal and fleet EV drivers. Learn more about the program below and see if your property is eligible for funding.
What You Need to Know
Application Window:
- February 05, 2026 – June 18, 2026
Key Requirements:
- Applications are open to all private entities, excluding investor-owned utilities
- Eligible applicants must have ≤ 50 active projects across all CEC-funded-zero-emission vehicle infrastructure grant agreements
- Projects must be along a state Alternative Fuel Corridor in Southern California
- Each project must have at least 8 charging ports and an EV charging nameplate capacity of 3 MW
Maximum Grant Award for Each Project:
- 80% of the total project cost or $8 million, whichever is less
- There is no maximum award amount per charging port
Max Grant Award for Each Applicant:
- No more than 20% of the total program funding
