Background on The Program
Santa Barbara Clean Energy’s Charge Up SB program helps eligible multifamily properties install electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. The program offers incentives for Level 1 and Level 2 charging stations, make-ready infrastructure, panel upgrades, and more. Funding is available on a first-come, first-served basis while program funds last. Property owners must reserve their incentive before purchasing equipment or beginning installation.
What You Need to Know
Program Window:
- July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027, or until funding is exhausted
Project Requirements:
- Must be located within the City of Santa Barbara
- Must be served by Santa Barbara Clean Energy
- Must include at least three housing units
- Purchase and installation of equipment must be made and completed after July 1, 2026
Funding Available per Charging Port:
- Level 2 charging stations may qualify for $4,500 per port at standard multifamily properties or $5,500 per port at qualifying affordable housing properties
Max Funding Available per Site:
- Up to $60,000 per property
- Standard multifamily properties are limited to 75% of total project cost
- Qualifying affordable housing properties are limited to 100% of total project costs
