Background on the Program
The South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) recently announced it will be offering $178,500,000 in funding for DC Fast Charging infrastructure for medium heavy duty (MHD) and heavy heavy duty (HHD) goods movement vehicles. This program is one of four of SCAQMD’s Invest Clean measures aimed at “overcoming barriers to transitioning the Southern California goods movement and logistics corridor to zero emissions (ZE) technologies.”
What You Need to Know
Application Window:
- August 15 – November 28, 2025
Requirements:
- Be within these four counties: Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, or San Bernardino
- Each connector must support a power output of at least 250 kW
- Chargers must support medium to heavy duty and heavy-duty goods movement vehicles
Total Funding Available per Charging Port:
- $700 per kW capacity
- Ex. Project with 10 charging connections each rated at 360kW would have a total charging capacity of 3,600 kW, potentially earning up to $2,520,000
