Background on The Program
EV Charge SF is a rebate program helping multifamily and commercial properties in San Francisco install EV charging equipment and supporting electrical infrastructure. The program serves CleanPowerSF and Hetch Hetchy Power customers by offering thousands in savings for EV charger installations. Funding is offered on a first-come, first-served basis while funds last, so eligible property owners are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. What You Need to Know
Application Window:
- Funding is first-come, first-served while funding remains available.
Requirements:
- Properties must receive electricity from CleanPowerSF or Hetch Hetchy Power under a qualifying electric rate
- Existing multifamily properties must have 5 or more dwelling units
- Single-family homes are ineligible
- Non-residential properties do not have to be publicly accessible. Some eligible properties include retail, restaurants, schools, hotels, malls, employee and fleet parking, and government facilities
- Charger replacements or upgrades are not eligible for funding
Funding Available per Parking Stall:
- Up to $4,500 per parking stall for a qualifying Level 2 charger at non-residential and market-rate multifamily existing buildings, limited to 75% of eligible project costs
- Up to $5,400 per parking stall for a qualifying Level 2 charger at existing 100% affordable housing buildings
Maximum Funding Available per Project Site:
- $100,000 annually per project site
- $120,000 annually per project site for 100% Affordable Housing Sites
