Earth Day 2026: Our Power, Our Planet
April 22nd, 2026, marks the 56th annual Earth Day, with the theme being “Our Power, Our Planet.” First celebrated on April 22, 1970, Earth Day has become a globally recognized day to promote environmental protection. The first Earth Day saw 20 million Americans show up to advocate for environmental protection. Last year, over 1 billion people worldwide participated.
How to Get Involved
From beach cleanups to festivals to educational events, there’s something for everyone on Earth Day. Check online platforms, local municipalities, non-profits, or cultural institutions to find activities happening in your area. Or you can organize and register your own event on the official Earth Day site today.
With Earth Day falling in the middle of the week this year, there will be countless events to join on the weekend before, the weekend after, and on the day itself. If you can’t make any of these dates, don’t worry, environmentally focused events take place year-round. Be on the lookout for some near you.
